wow…. i’ll admit roger waters was pissed about a lot of things, and one of those things was syd…. and honestly why try to interpret the music? it’s not that i’m not intellegent enough, i just love the music too much to try to destroy it for myself…

the only reason these guys were any good is because they were high the majority of the time, not sayin its a bad thing most good rock stars are, but most of their music was influenced or about drugs, hate to break it to all you teens and twenty somethings who know nothing about these musicians except that they recorded the song.

@TheBAM121 Gotta agree there, to truly understand this song, you would have had to have gone thru the education system in the Callaghan/Thatchers years and in this day and age of conformity and obeisance without thought, this and other contempary songs were right on the nail in predicting the future for us… All I can say is thank god for Punk for throwing a spanner in their works ^^

I don’t think the ONLY reason they were good is because of drugs. Its just that drugs help you to tune in to the particular signal you are trying to channel as a musician. Roger Waters was already tuned in due to his experiences with Syd and recording music prior to this album for so many years. The drugs just helped to give him fine tuning abilities combined with his previous experiences as a recording artist in the studio.
